Olta Xhaçka has served continuously as a Member of the Albanian Parliament since 2009. Since 2025, she has held the position of Vice Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense and Security. Her senior government roles include Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs (2021–2023), Minister of Defence (2017–2020), and Minister of Social Welfare and Youth (2017). She currently also serves as Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). She holds a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in Political Science and International Relations and a Master of Public Administration (magna cum laude) from Clark University in the United States. Her career combines legislative leadership and executive experience with academic engagement and long-standing involvement in civil society initiatives on governance and human rights. From 2006 to 2009, she taught Political Science at the University of New York Tirana, and between 2010 and 2020 she chaired the Socialist Women’s Forum. Fluent in Albanian, English, and Italian, she brings extensive expertise in international affairs, defense, and democratic governance.
