Sen. Jess Collins

Senator Jess Collins is the newest Liberal Senator for NSW, elected at the May 2025 election and currently serving as Opposition Deputy Whip. She sits on several Senate committees, including Community Affairs, Finance and Public Administration, Human Rights and Treaties. Jess is focused on strengthening family policy, rebuilding Australia’s defence forces, and advancing Australia’s engagement in the Pacific. Before entering the Senate, Jess was a Research Fellow in the Pacific Islands Program at the Lowy Institute, researching regional geostrategic issues and hosting a podcast spotlighting Pacific women leaders. She holds a PhD in anthropology from Queensland University of Technology and degrees from Griffith University, QUT and the University of Sydney. Jess is a published academic, lives in Sydney with her husband Ben and their four children, and is a keen Rugby Union fan.
