Czech Senate Passes Resolution Urging Legal Challenge to China’s Misuse of UN Resolution 2758

On 29th April 2025, the Czech Senate adopted a resolution rejecting Beijing’s misinterpretation of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758, further strengthening international momentum behind IPAC’s Initiative 2758.
The resolution was led by IPAC Czechia Co-Chair Senator Pavel Fischer and passed with broad cross-party support. It calls on the Czech Government to seek a legal opinion from the International Court of Justice to challenge the People’s Republic of China’s distortion of the resolution, which Beijing has long misused to claim exclusive sovereignty over Taiwan and to obstruct its participation in international bodies.
The Senate resolution also urges the Czech Government to advocate for Taiwan’s meaningful inclusion in global organisations, including the World Health Organisation and Interpol.
Senator Pavel Fischer underscored that the resolution reflects the Czech Republic’s commitment to upholding international law and resisting political coercion.
