We, the India Co-Chairs of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China, strongly and unequivocally condemn the arbitrary detention of Indian citizen Prema Wangjom Thongdok of Arunachal Pradesh, who was travelling on a valid Indian passport and merely transiting through Shanghai International Airport en route to Japan. This unjustified action constitutes a clear violation of established international air travel norms and conventions.Additionally, claims by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Arunachal Pradesh is Chinese territory and was "illegally" created by India are baseless, provocative, and inconsistent with reality. This expansionist attitude of China smacks of imperialist medieval behaviour.Arunachal Pradesh is, and will always remain, an integral and inalienable part of India. No amount of denial or distortion by the Chinese authorities can alter this indisputable fact.
